There are two ways in which customers can purchase with Gumroad. The main way would be that a customer purchases through your paytable checkout and signup page. If you're using a Paytable landing page, embedded widget or direct links this is the page that opens when a new customer arrives who isn’t logged in to your database.

As your product may also be listed on your Gumroad profile or users may find it linked elsewhere the process is slightly different in that the Paytable account is automatically created for your user with a temporary access code both of which they will be sent via email.

For both testing scenarios please make sure of the following:

• You've added your Paytable Ping to your Gumroad ping settings
• You've added your gumroad product ID to your Paytable product
• You'd added your redirect url to your Gumroad product
• Make sure your logged into your Gumroad seller account to do a fake payment test
• Logout of your Paytable account

Test Option 1 - customer created at Paytable first

This is the flow for when a customer purchases directly through your Paytable widget, landing page or direct payment links:

• Customer clicks the get access button in the widget, landing page or from your direct checkout / payment link.
• Your customer creates an account at Paytable first
• Then they are re-directed to Gumroad to make the payment
• Customer sent back to your database access page (your reader page)
• Access granted ( your customer is also sent an email from Paytable about their account)

To test this flow just make sure you are logged into your Gumroad account and logged out of your Paytable account. This is so you can use a fake payment at Gumroad but experience the onboarding flow for new customers who create an account at Paytable first.
